Last year I was using Tinder and somehow I met a girl from Thailand. Since then I haven’t been able to connect with anyone in the same way that we did… We had to overcome a language barrier just to understand each other, which I think made our mutual understandings that much deeper. We had no choice but to be forward and frank since the intricacies of our respective social normalities didn’t apply.
We went on a lot of adventures that are burned into my memory. When we met she was lost downtown. We walked around Atlanta, we watched movies and tv shows together, she cooked authentic thai food for me and I made shitty sandwiches for her, we went on long drives and talked, we went to get pizza late at night at little five points then hung out by my car in the parking lot while I sign spun and she took pictures, we drove to lake lanier and stayed up on the docks to watch the sunrise, we drove to Augusta and I showed her my home and we watched the sunrise again over the Savannah River at the canal headgates, we went out late to eat mcdonalds fries and nuggets in my car while I tried to help her better pronounce English words, we did a lot of staying up talking and learning about each other. We did a lot of things together and if she didn’t have to go back I feel like we would’ve gone on a lot more adventures.
Being at the airport and watching her go was really hard for me.
